03/18/20 Mayor Urges Residents to Adhere to Health Mandates

Mayor Charlie Pierce is urging all Kenai Peninsula Borough residents to follow Governor Michael Dunleavy’s COVID-19 Heath Mandates. These mandates have been released in an effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). Mandate #4 requires travelers returning to Alaska to self-quarantine for 14 days and to monitor symptoms if they have returned from Level 3 High Risk countries. Recommendations for medium risk travelers are included in the mandate. Click here to read the full announcement coronavirus.alaska.gov

“Our incident management team (IMT) is planning ahead to anticipate needed resources and making sure that the correct information is getting to the residents,” stated Mayor Pierce. “I realize that these latest mandates are going to create significant impacts, but I urge all residents to take a moment to inform yourself of how significant this virus is to the health and well being of our elders and folks at risk. Let’s practice prevention and get through this together.”

The IMT has activated the interagency blog www.kpboem.com. The blog hosts all of the official updates from participating agencies and municipalities. It also provides links to resources on COVID-19 from the state, federal and local healthcare partners. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter @KPBalerts.
