Eight new cases of COVID-19 announced in four Alaska communities

April 15, 2020 ANCHORAGE — The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) today announced eight new cases of COVID-19 in four Alaska communities – Anchorage (3), Sterling (1), Nome (1), and Juneau (3). This brings the total case count in Alaska on April 13 to 293.

These new cases were reported from 12:00 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. on April 14 and reflect data posted at noon today on coronavirus-response-alaska-dhss.hub.arcgis.com.

The Nome case is the first case in the Nome Census Area. Of the new cases, four are male and four are female. Three are aged 20-29; one is aged 30-39; one is aged 40-49; one is aged 50-59; and two are aged 60-69. There have been 34 total hospitalizations and nine deaths with two new hospitalizations and no new deaths yesterday.
