4/9/20 AHFC resources

Alaska Housing Finance Corporation owns and manages a 30 unit public housing property in Seward. Glacier View is for those older than 62.
We also support Homer and Soldotna with Housing Vouchers where tenants rent from landlords in the private sector.

We have been proactive communicating with tenants in public housing statewide about following CDC guidelines and state mandates, about our increased cleaning schedule and like so many others, we eliminated the option for public engagement at our offices, among other operational changes. We have also assured residents that they won’t lose their housing as a result of financial hardship caused by COVID-19 but we ask that they be proactive in reaching out to their AHFC case managers.

Those with Vouchers are subject to Alaska’s Landlord Tenant Act and there’s a contractual relationship that exists between the tenant and landlord. I’ll spare you all of the details but am happy to answer questions about our role in insuring landlords are paid despite financial hardship caused by COVID-19 and that tenants aren’t evicted based on financial hardship as a result of the virus. We’ve been posting information for tenants at this section of our website: https://www.ahfc.us/tenants

Additionally, AHFC is the investor in about 20% of the single family home loans across the state. We’ve instructed our servicing partners not to pursue foreclosure through the end of May as a result of COVID-19 financial hardship but just as with clients in public housing, we encourage those homeowners to contact their servicer ASAP to insure the greatest number of options are available to them. Here is guidance on that: https://www.ahfc.us/buy

Finally and with respect to HIPPA and ADA, if you learn anything about our tenants/properties or think we can be helpful with your public messaging and can support you, please let me know. I can’t imagine the challenge you’re facing with a huge percentage of your population disconnected from the internet. I’ll give that some more thought. My cell is 301-4556 and it’s pretty much on 24/7 these days. Reach out anytime.
