6/20/15 1:00 pm Card Street Fire Update and Clarifications

Updates and clarifications:
Kenai Peninsula Borough has announced that all evacuations are lifted in the Card Street Fire area. Residents are urged to use caution as they return to their properties. Fire personnel remain in the area.

Homer Electric Association (HEA) will begin restoring the power to the Kenai Keys area at approximately 1 PM on Saturday afternoon. If it appears power has not been restored to your location, please check your breaker at the meter to make sure it is in the "on" position.  If the breaker is on and power remains out, please call HEA at 1-888-8-OUTAGE.  HEA would also like to remind residents that if they see a downed powerline, please stay away, consider it is energized and call the number above.

Enstar Gas Company will continue to work in the area and plans to resume natural gas service on Monday. Residents should not attempt to turn the gas on themselves.

The US Fish and Wildlife Service clarifies that the Skilak Loop Road remains closed at the west entrance at the Sterling Highway to milepost 9.3 at the Engineer Lake Overlook.  The road is open on the east end, to the upper Skilak Lake boat launch. Motorists are encouraged to please be cautious of changing fire conditions and fire personnel in the area.  All campgrounds, public use cabins, and trails within the Skilak Wildlife recreational area remain closed until further notice.
