Today's ojectives: Protect high values from fire impacts along the Sterling Highway to the north, the Russian River to the west and the Cooper River to the east.
Juneau Lake Fire
Acres: 488
Today's objectives: Protect cabins along Juneau Lake to the west.
General objectives: Safety of firefighters and the public is the highest priority. Coordinate with emergency management on strategies to respond to potential hazardous situations due to the fires.
Restrictions, closures: A burn closure due to high fire dangerincludes the Tanana Valley north of the Alaska Range and the Copper River Valley. All open fires, including campfires and charcoal fires, are prohibited on state lands, including state park units, and private and municipal lands within Game Management Units 11, 12, 20, 24 and 25, effective at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, June 19. The term open fires refers to "any flame source not immediately extinguishable or controllable and applies to any form of wood or charcoal-based fire, even in established fire rings." Gas grills, backpacking or camp stoves using fuel or compressed canisters that can be regulated and shut off are still permitted for use.
