6/19/15 Card Street Fire Supported by the Kenai Air Tanker Base

The Division of Forestry Air Tanker base In Kenai has been busy pumping retardant in support of the Card Street fire this week.

Vince Spady and Dale Anderegg work at the base and said they have pumped 117,000 gallons of retardant in 46 aircraft loads. The retardant from these air tankers saved numerous homes in the subdivisions near Sterling. The BAE 146 pictured below and the Convair are the 2 types of air tankers used in the Card Street fire fight.

In addition to the retardant 22,000 gallons of water was also pumped in 11 loads for the suppression effort.
