03/17/2020 City of Kenai Closure of Public Access to All City Facilities

March 17, 2020 - Effective Tuesday, March 17, at 5:00 pm, the City of Kenai will close public access to all City buildings until further notice. This is in addition to closures noted on March 16, which included the Kenai Community Library and the Kenai Senior Center. The City will evaluate the need for continued closure over the coming weeks.

The closures are in support of reducing the spread of the COVID - 19 virus.

The decision to close public access to these facilities was difficult; we continue to follow similar actions by the State and neighboring cities and do our best to serve the public in the safest way possible. In most cases, City employees will continue to work diligently within our buildings, practicing social distancing and safe work practices, so that they may continue to provide important services to our citizens during this period of public access.

Payments for City utilities using personal checks or money orders for water and sewer may be made by using the drop box in front of City Hall. No envelopes are required for drop box payments; please ensure the user’s water and sewer account number and/or service address is listed on the check. Customers paying with credit/debit cards and e-checks or bank account transfers may log in to xpressbillpay.com or use the Xpressbillpay phone app. Customers may also contact Xpressbillpay by phone: 1-800-720-6847.

Payments for citations may be made by contacting City Hall: (907)283-8200.

Critical operations such as police, fire, and utility departments will remain in full operation during this time. Non-emergency police concerns can be reported by dialing (907)283-7879. Please continue to dial 911 in the case of an emergency.

Updates on City operations will also be available on the City’s website and Facebook page.
We encourage those that wish to participate in the March 18, 2020 Council Meeting to participate virtually or telephonically. Alternatives will be announced on the City’s website and Facebook page.
