For planning purposes, communities including Cooper Landing are broken up into zones. Zones are used to quickly identify an area. It is important to remember that depending on where a fire is located, an alert to evacuate may be issued to one or more zones.
Please remember to sign up for KPBalerts to receive cell
phone notification by text or call. Text KPB to 99411 and follow the prompts to
register multiple phone numbers tied to your Borough physical address on Kenai
Peninsula.
You do not need to remember what your zone number is for
your home. The KPBalerts notification system will provide alerts to the right
homes. All you need to remember is if you receive a KPBalert phone call or text
with a Level 3 GO! notice, it is time for you to implement your plan and safely
and slowly leave your home.
If a Level 3 GO! evacuation alert is used, it can be
difficult sometimes to remember exactly what you and your family should do. A
checklist has been created to assist you and provide you some steps to follow.
Please keep this information handy as you make preparations to be ready. You
will notice a QR code at the bottom of the checklist. Use your smartphone
camera or bar code scanner to scan the QR code which will take you to a website that has translated
the GO! checklist into six different languages.
Fire information can be found on www.kpboem.com and on Facebook @KPBalerts. If
you do not have good access to the internet, individuals can call the KPB Fire
Information Call Center at 907-262-4636.
