Cooper Landing is in “SET” Status

August 26, 2019 - 10:00 pm – Cooper Landing is in a SET status because of fire activity. The fire has crossed Resurrection Trail and is near Slaughter and Slate Creeks, about two miles from Cooper Landing.

Cooper Landing is now in a SET status. Residents should be SET to evacuate. Residents are advised to gather their “go kit.” Stay informed and be ready to evacuate if the situation warrants. People who would require additional time or assistance to evacuate may want to consider leaving the area now.

This is a dynamic situation and the status of the Sterling Highway can change at any time. For the latest information, visit kpboem.com and on Facebook at KPB Alerts. This is also your best source for updated evacuation information.

Firefighters and heavy equipment are working to reinforce firelines along Slaughter Creek Road. These lines tie into a previously constructed fuel break. Fire managers are working on a plan to bring in aircraft and other resources as early as possible Tuesday morning to protect Cooper Landing.

Firefighters receive a briefing on the status of the fire before beginning work to reinforce firelines.
