8/29/19 10:00 PM Sterling Highway Update

The Sterling Highway remains open tonight with pilot car escorts between mile 71 and 40.  There is a chance Friday's expected wind could cause the fire and smoke to pick up.  The small amount of rain forecast won't put the fire out but it may reduced fire behavior.  We expect the road to continue to have pilot car escorts when its open and there is a possibility of long waits so please be prepared with food and water.
