8/22/19 5:45 p.m. Caribou Lake Fire Update

THE STERLING HIGHWAY IS STILL OPEN

Great Basin Incident Management Team 1 will assume command of the Caribou Lake Fire, 25 miles northeast of Homer,  at 0700 tomorrow 8/23

Today, clear skies allowed helicopters to deliver additional equipment and supplies to the 28 firefighters on the ground. While two fire bosses supported them with water drops.
There has been limited fire activity, primarily North (away) from Caribou Lake

Two Public Information Officers are now based in Homer to provide more consistent updates to the local community
