09/06/19 - 4:00 p.m. - Swan Lake Fire

Swan Lake Fire - Afternoon Update
In Cooper Landing today, firefighters working in the structure protection group participated in a structure protection simulation at 10 a.m. Those firefighters worked on drills to go over rapid response strategies in the event that Swan Lake fire was close enough to threaten structures. Firefighters worked on communication strategies and team coordination in implementing suppression plans for various structures.
Other current operational efforts are working to strengthen existing control lines. Helicopters are working on the eastern side of the fire area to cool down hot spots that firefighters are working in near the Shaft Creek area.
