09/07/19 - 9:15 a.m. - South Alaska Smoke Outlook

Fire activity on specific fires is described in the AICC Situation Report at https://fire.ak.blm.gov.
Smoke

Susitna Valley and Anchorage Area: Good air quality is expected today and tomorrow. Haze from the Tokaina 2 fire extended to Palmer yesterday and may be slightly visible this morning, but should disperse today with strong winds out of the south.

Kenai Peninsula: Air quality is expected to be Good for this area today. Light smoke from the Swan Lake fire that drifted towards Sterling yesterday should disperse today with expected breezy winds out of the south and east. Lingering smoke may be visible within the fire perimeter near the Sterling Highway.

Glennallen Area: Any smoke impacts from the Tokaina 2 fire in this area should diminish today as strong winds transport smoke and haze to the north, which may result in light haze over the Fairbanks region.
