09/08/19 - 8:15 a.m. - South Alaska Smoke Outlook

Fire

Fire activity on specific fires is described in the AICC Situation Report at https://fire.ak.blm.gov.

Smoke

Susitna Valley and Anchorage Area: Good air quality conditions are expected to continue with the cooler, wetter weather pattern over the region.

Kenai Peninsula: Expect overall Good air quality today with minimal smoke from the Swan Lake fire. Pockets of light smoke may be visible within the fire perimeter along the Sterling Highway.

Glennallen Area: Yesterday's winds dispersed most of the accumulated smoke in this area. With less fire activity today, the Tokaina 2 fire should produce minimal smoke with a northward drift. Light smoke and haze may be visible along the Glenn Highway in the vicinity of the fire.
