9/2/2019 - 08:15 PM - Swan Lake Fire Operational Update

Despite strong and erratic winds with no moisture the firefighters have made good progress throughout the day. Firefighters mopped up and held fire line from Sterling Highway to Skilak Loop Road and Hidden Lake to the Kenai River. Mop up operations continued around Trout, Juneau and Romig cabins. A Wildfire Use Module (specialized firefighting crew) worked on improvements in the vicinity of the Russian Lake area. Firefighters cut out blown down trees and built fire line in the Surprise Creek area along the southern edge. Helicopter bucket work was accomplished northeast of Hidden Lake campground and south of the Trout Lake area. #Swanlakefire
