The Sterling Highway is OPEN.
The Sterling Highway is reopen with the use of pilot cars leading one lane of traffic through the Swan Lake Fire area at a time. There active fire along the roadway. Expect smoke, active fire, and fire operations are ongoing.
If you must travel on the highway, please be prepared with water and food. When traffic begins to move once again, please be courteous, drive with headlights on, do not block private driveways, and watch for fire equipment.
Please remember, with the number of vehicles accumulated during the traffic delay, it may take some time for the number of vehicles to dissipate.
