08/16/19 Fuller Lakes and Skyline Trails CLOSED

Anticipating high winds and sunny skies this weekend over the Swan Lake Fire, Fuller Lakes and Skyline Trails have been closed on the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge to reduce the risk to public safety.

A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for the fire area from 4pm today (8/16) through Saturday evening for hot, dry, and windy conditions. A Fire Weather Watch is an alert to firefighters and land managers to the high potential for conditions to develop that could lead to an increase in fire danger and rapid fire spread. Temperatures are forecast to be in the low 80s with strong winds out of the north.

For more information on alternative recreational trails on the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, please call the Refuge Visitor Center at 907-260-2820.
