8/21/19
1:15 p.m.

The Kenai Peninsula Borough Office of Emergency Management reminds residents of the current LEVEL 1 (READY) alert still in effect for Cooper Landing, Sterling, and Diamond Ridge areas:
  • Cooper Landing Community
  • Sterling Community:
    • East of Feuding Lane to the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge west boundary
    • East of Adkins Road to the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge west boundary
  • Homer area
    • Residents living along North Fork Road, north of the fire
    • Communities along the Diamond Ridge Road to the south
The Great Basin Incident Management Team assumed control of fire operations on the Swan Lake this morning at 0700. The Fire Management team will assess current and past levels of fire activity, expected weather patterns, and predicted fire behavior to develop the Level 2 Set and Level 3 Go! management action lines for Cooper Landing and Sterling.

A Level 1 (READY) alert is NOT a notice to leave. This alert means that you must be ready for potential evacuation. Assist family members with special needs, arrange to move mobile property (boats, trailers, ATV), and prepare pets or livestock. Monitor social media, news and radio for information, visit the KPB blog at www.kpboem.com or call the Borough Call Center at 907-262-INFO (4636) for updates.

Emergency personnel may contact you via the emergency notification system KPB Alerts. All landlines are automatically registered in this system; however, you must register mobile phones. You can register for KPBalerts by texting KPB to 99411, and follow prompts.  For additional information on the Ready, Set, Go! Evacuation Guidelines, please visitwww.kpboem.com or call 907-262-INFO.
