Last Sunday night the Sterling Highway was closed after fire activity picked up near the road. As the highway was being cleared of remaining traffic, some travelers passed through an area where there was very active fire and heavy smoke. After accounts of this spread on social media, many people appropriately asked how this chain of events unfolded. Great Basin Incident Management Team 1 has prepared this explanation. #swanlakefire
